The Wonders and Perils of Bird Migration.

We will explore the awe-inspiring phenomenon of bird migration and uncover the mysteries behind their epic voyages. From colorful warblers to hummingbirds and thrushes, discover the incredible diversity of species that grace our skies during this magical season.


You will gain insights into the behaviors, routes, and challenges faced by migrating birds as they embark on their remarkable journeys. Learn how to identify common species and understand the crucial role of safe stopover sites in their migration routes. AND find out why so many songbirds migrate at night!

Craig Repasz is Co-Chair of Lights Out CT and President of the Friends of Stewart B McKinney NWR, an organization devoted to supporting this important refuge. He is past president of the New Haven Bird Club, currently serving as their Conservation Chair. He is past conservation chair of the Connecticut Ornithological Association. He has been the volunteer coordinator for the Connecticut Bird Atlas for six years. He enjoys backpacking and conducts Mountain Birdwatch surveys for the Vermont Center of Ecostudies, focusing on the Bicknell’s Thrush and other high elevation species.
