Celebrate EarthDay 2023 with the deep, funky, delightful sounds of nature at a free live storytelling sound jam at Pequot Library in Fairfield. Celebrate your creaturely connections to animals and place. Our Lights Out Connecticut co-chair Meredith Barges will perform with friends Jordan Humphrey and Amia Davis. Hear the tales of these three local nature storytellers and participate in a springtime bird, waterfall, and whale soundscape. *Family friendly.*

Jordan Humphrey is finishing up a degree at Yale Divinity School, where he is studying to become a writer and an earth-chaplain. Originally from North Carolina, he has spent the last decade leading backpacking trips through the Utah desert, working on farms as far away as New Zealand, and getting an MFA in creative writing in the Appalachian Mountains
Amia Davis is a PhD student in the combined program in Classics and History at Yale University and is writing her dissertation under the working title, A Flap of the Eagle’s Wings: Chaos Theory, the Ancient Balkans, and the Fate of Rome (105-612 CE). Davis frequently embarks on wilderness survival trips and is currently volunteering at a wolfdog sanctuary.
Meredith Barges, co-chair of Lights Out Connecticut and student policy researcher at Yale Law School, aims to make our cities and towns safer for migratory birds. In 2021, she convinced Yale Divinity School to join Lights Out. Most weekends, you can find her birding in East Rock Park or in the Yale DivFarm tending Milkweed, Coneflower, and Cosmos for pollinators.
